From March31stto April 2nd , Juan-Carlos Holgado, Sport Director of International University Sports Federation (FISU), and Liu Wenzhi, futsal commissioner of FUSC (FUSC), came to SUES for a 3-day visit to inspect the preparations for the 2024 World University Championship Futsal, accompanied by Chen Fugui, Deputy Secretary General of Shanghai Football Association (SFA) and Caoqiang, Commissioner of the Competition Department.
On the afternoon of March31st, Yu Tao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the University, and Zhu Xiaoqing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of the University, met with officials from FISU, FUSC and SFA. President Yu Tao extended a warm welcome to the officials and said that the successful bid for hosting WUC Futsal in 2019 was a important and exciting event in the history of SUES's history. Shanghai University of Engineering Science, as the only university in Shanghai that currently has a team to participate in the CFA Futsal Super League, was the runner-up of the 32nd Pan Baltic Games for college futsal and has accumulated rich experience in the implementation process of hosting the CFA Futsal Super League and the China College Futsal Finals. SUES has done a lot of preparatory work in more than 3 years and is confident and determined to host an exciting and outstanding WUC Futsal. The two sides also exchanged views on other matters related to the preparation of the event.
At the meeting, ZhuXiaoqing introduced the development and preparatory work of the event to the delegation and said that SUES would strictly abide by the bid commitments and further refine and implement the preparatory work in accordance with the work requirements of FISU and FUSC. The University will take the 2024 WUC Futsal as an opportunity to further form characteristics of the University's futsal programme and build a good platform for the event by gathering all efforts. In addition to showcasing the excellent Chinese traditional culture and Shanghai regional culture, promoting the construction of campus culture and quality education, SUES will build a bridge for university students from all over the world to compete together and promote friendship and cultural exchanges among university students worldwide.
Mr. Holgado expressed his appreciation for the positive and efficient preparation work finished by SUES. He introduced the next step in the preparation of the event and said that FISU will strengthen the communication and coordination with FUSC and SUES to jointly promote the preparation of the event and look forward to a successful WUC Futsal to be held in SUES in 2024.
At the technical meeting and preparatory work meeting of the event, Chen Fugui exchanged views with FISU on the event schedule and technical work. Zhang Jianxin, Director of the P.E. Department, gave a detailed presentation to FISU officials on the preparations for the event in terms of the structure of OC, the event logo, accommodation, transportation, venues, volunteers, logistics, press and publicity, and event marketing. The participants exchanged views on the details related to the preparation of the event.
The FISU officials visited the technical conference room, venues and indoor sports center which is under construction. They also visited the provisional hotel, and Songjiang Venue, Shanghai University Sports Centre, Donghua University Venue, which will function as competing and training venue, and Guangfulin Heritage Park where the World University Cultural Exchange Programme will be held during the event.
With the strong support of FUSC, Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and Shanghai University Sports Association, SUES has successfully obtained the hosting right of the 18th World University Championship Futsal on 9 December 2019, which will be held from 10 to 16 June 2024.
